Receiving - Front Foot

 

Coaching Points

U8-U13

  • Use the sole of the foot, between the middle of your foot and toes to control the incoming pass using the outside of the foot to then push the ball away from your feet and the opponent
  • Use your body and to hold the player off the ball and keep you balanced
  • Complete the exercise before swapping roles with your partner
  • Touches should be light yet controlled and roll the ball away from the body
  • Stay on toes and head up, using your arm to check for the opponent

U14-U19

  • Increase the speed of the pass to make it more difficult to control
  • Change the height of the pass
  • Give the partner the license to try and win the ball back
