Coaching Points
- Start right hand side of cone and push ball out straight with inside of right foot
- With sole of right foot, roll foot across the ball starting about ¾ of the way up the ball
- Control the ball with the inside of the left foot once ball is through the cones, taking a second touch with the right to settle the ball if needed
- Repeat on the left hand side
- With inside of right foot move the ball around the cone into starting position to repeat on way back
- Touches should be light, but far enough away from body to run freely
- Stay on toes and head up, yet keeping the ball at the bottom of your peripheral vision
U8-U13
- Sole role from right foot onto left foot.
- Using bottom of cleat manipulate ball.
- In and out of cones at pace.
- Role ball forward across body.
- Small touch with inside of the foot. (maybe required before role)
- At top cone, 3 touches with inside of right foot to face cones again.
- Repeat skill.
U14-U19
- Only using sole, manipulate ball through cones.
- Using both feet and toe taps.
- Manipulate ball forward, and across body.
- Using a sole role, move ball from right foot to left.
- Perform quickly.
- Head is up and on toes.
Progression Ideas
- Increase the speed of the dribble, this will come with practice
- Increase the number of cones and decrease the distance between the cones
- Change the angle of the cones so not in a straight line
- Work against a friend and or set a time to complete the drill
